Sell yourself.
Becoming a successful adjuster, whether you pursue full-time work with an insurance company or independent contract work as a storm-chaser, is entirely dependent on your interviewing skills. Clearly, insurance companies will conduct extensive and detailled interviews when they hire full-time Staff Adjusters. Independent Adjusting firms will have interviews or assessments with the Adjusters they place as well. When an independent firm deploys adjusters to the field, they do so on behalf of clients they work with on a contractual basis. To ensure their ongoing and profitable relationships with those clients, they will only want the very best adjusters. Getting a license and some abbreviated training will not suffice. You will need the most comprehensive training to prepare you for the expectations of those clients - many of whom have faced litigation issues in the aftermath of recent storm seasons.
Sell yourself. Put forth your very best face. Complete all the necessary training before you apply with an IA firm or insurance agency. Let them know why you're the best candidate. Demonstrate the high level of skill you possess as a result of successful, comprehensive training, and show them your exemplary customer service and administrative skills as well.
